Hey there!
My name is Silas Miller and i am ALSO studying Music and Media Management at the University of Gloucestershire. I have previously done a BTEC in Music Technology which I got on with and passed incredibly well. I enjoyed the course so much that I decided to take my strongest points from the BTEC ie the management side of music and take it on in higher education. The course now has made me decide on a possible career in Music Publishing as it is a central and important part of the Music Industry today. I like the fact that there is a strong mix of nurturing and looking after an artist as well as doing the administrative side as well as I am just as much of a ”people person” as a hard worker.
I have always played in bands myself from an early age and have always been into the London hardcore and metal scenes spending whole summers going to 3 or 4 shows a week. These genres of music, I would say are my favourite but i have an extremely eclectic music collection ranging between The Beatles, Joy Division, The Black Dahlia Murder, Madness, Gallows, Pantera, Damien Rice, The Prodigy and Andrea Bocelli.
Right now I am looking for as much industry experience as I can possibly get to further my career opportunities in the future.
Cheers for reading. x

Hi,
I’m Kat Buchanan and am currently studying Music and Media Management at the University of Gloucestershire. I have always aspired to be a singer and have been a part of theatre and dance schools since i was little. This gave me the opportunity to perform on stage very regularly, usually as a solo artist. I would love to write my own songs and am currently working on a few that are in their early stages. I am very interested in learning the guitar and piano. I have both of these instruments yet can only play a few chords on the guitar at the moment. I am also interested in the industry as a whole and at the moment am drawn to working for a label to market and promote bands, would like to get into producing/managing creative work. Next semester I have a project that involves making a music video which i am really looking forward to experiencing I also find myself interested in aspects of Entertainment Law. Really I want to break into the industry in any way that I can and am lucky that I have a broad scope of interests and abilities. The music i love ranges from kate voegele, the killers, britney spears, cheryl cole, kings of leon, peter doherty, take that, and a very many more!! Really want to get back into doing lots of performing tho just need to make that first move!

I really would love to be involved in the A&R side of the industry and aspire to gaining the necessary experience needed to become a manager of my own acts, hopefully this is a good place to start, I have done some promoting already along with getting local bands gigs in clubs and smaller local music venues, just finding my feet really.

I am Gary Wood, currently in my 1st year at the Univeristy of Gloucestershire studying Music and Media Management, and so far, love it!
I have 2 possible career paths in mind, first being performing and recording as a singer. The other being an A&R person. Just grabbing every opportunity I can get at the moment because I know how hard this industry can be to break into. Singing is my main focus at the moment, although I did only start getting into it about 2 1/2 years ago, however I have played the drums in for 12 years and have been part of a few different bands. My music tastes varies over a broad range, from Michael Buble, Take That, Josh Groban, Snow Patrol, Alexisonfire, Embrace and Kings of Leon…. to name a few. I’m always keeping my options open, willing to listen to anything new and will aim to try my hand at anything be it music videos, producing, songwriting, performing, talent finding, marketing etc . At the moment, aside from my studies at Uni, I am in the middle of writing songs for myself, ready for next year where I plan to do as much performing as possible.

Hi, my names Sarah Johnston. I currently study music business at Stow college and aim to finish my degree at West Minster University in London. I am yet to decide what sector of the music industry I wish too work in, however my favorite classes so far on my course have been Law, Marketing, Promotions and the creative project. The creative project has so far involved looking at the A & R process and will go on to work with the picked band to produce a record.
I have worked with Warner bros UK undercurrent department and Traffic Online to promote bands at gigs by putting up posters, handing out flyers and signing people up to the mailing list. Other voluntary work I am currently doing involves being a production assistant in productions organized within the Glasgow Victory Christian Centre.
My music taste has changed throughout the course of my life, starting with Elvis Costello, Roy Orbison and Bruce Springsteen and I have to say, the performance which included all three of these artists ”A Night in Black and White” has to be the most viewed DVD in my collection.
If picked to be part of this project I will be readily available and easily contacted as I only work on saturdays and attend college three days a week.
